Analysis Note

Organized chains have significantly outpaced standalone players over the last 12 years — chain market size grew ~4.2x (₹11,500 Cr to ₹48,000 Cr) versus ~2.1x for standalone/local (₹15,800 Cr to ₹33,000 Cr), while chain outlet count nearly quadrupled (3,020 to 11,800+). The FY 2020–21 dip (SSSG at -25%, total market down ~36%) proved to be a sharp but temporary shock, with both segments and SSSG rebounding strongly the following year, suggesting the underlying growth trajectory of India's QSR market remains structurally intact and increasingly tilted toward organized players.
